Privacy Policy

Accountable Goals is a goal tracking and accountability app for individuals, businesses and schools. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why we collect it, and who can see it.

Information you give us

When you create an account we collect your name, email address and any profile photo you add. During sign-up you also tell us a little about yourself, such as your age, gender and how you plan to use Accountable.

As you use the app we store the content you create: goals and their progress updates, activities you log (type, distance, duration, elevation, calories, notes and photos), kudos, comments, poll votes, messages you send to another member, and the tokens or rewards you earn or are given.

If you join a school or a business, we store the school or company details you enter, your class or team, your role, and the work connected to it, such as assignments, progress notes and marks.

Information from health and fitness services

You can choose to connect a fitness service such as Whoop or Garmin. If you do, we receive the activity data you authorise from that service (for example workout type, distance, duration, calories and date) and store it as an activity in your Accountable profile. We only take the data needed to show your activity, and you can disconnect the service at any time, which stops future syncing.

Payments

If you make a payment through Accountable, the payment is processed by our payment provider, Stripe. Your card details are entered with Stripe and are never stored on our servers. We only receive confirmation of the payment and basic billing details such as the plan and status.

How we use your information

We use your information to run the features you use: to show your goals and progress, to let the people you choose follow along and encourage you, to let a teacher see the progress and marks of students in their class, to let a business's admins and leaders see team performance, to keep your streak and rewards up to date, and to keep your account secure.

We also use it to understand how the app is used so we can improve it, and to send you the in-app notifications and reminders you have switched on.

Who can see your information

You choose whether each goal is public or private. Alongside that:

  • Teachers can see the progress, notes and marks of students in their own classes.
  • Business admins, leaders and coordinators can see the objectives, reviews and performance of people in their own company, department or team.
  • Members of the same school or company can see each other's names and roles, but personal contact details such as email addresses are never shown to other members.
  • Messages are visible only to the two people in the conversation.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

Service providers we rely on

We share information only with the providers that help us run Accountable: our hosting and database provider, our payment provider (Stripe), the fitness services you choose to connect (such as Whoop or Garmin), and our email delivery provider. They may only use it to provide that service to us.

Students and schools

Accountable is used by schools to set goals and track progress in class. Student activity inside a class is visible to that class's teachers. Where a school signs up learners, the school is responsible for making sure it has the permissions it needs from students and their guardians.

Cookies and sessions

We use the browser's storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We do not use it to track you across other websites.

Your choices and your data

You can edit your profile, your goals and your activity at any time, and change whether a goal is public or private. You can disconnect a fitness service whenever you like. If you would like a copy of your data, a correction, or your account and its content deleted, contact us and we will help. We keep your information for as long as your account is active, and remove or anonymise it after deletion.

Security

Access to your data is restricted to you and the people your account is meant to share it with, and we take reasonable measures to protect it. No online service can promise perfect security, so please use a strong password and keep it to yourself.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page, and we will tell you in the app if the change is significant.
